It's Homecoming Week at WHS! Students and staff are participating in Spirit Week festivities each day – Pajama Day (Monday), Twin Day (Tuesday), Western Day (Wednesday), Cultural/Traditional Dress Day (Thursday), and Class Colors (Friday). Home athletic contests this week are Boys Soccer vs. Deering (Tuesday @4pm), Golf vs. TA (Tuesday @3:30), Volleyball vs. Noble (Thursday @5:30), Girls Soccer vs. Cheverus (Thursday @5:30), Field Hockey vs. Marshwood (Friday @5:30). The Homecoming Football Game is Friday at 6pm vs. Cheverus. The Homecoming Dance is Saturday from 7-10pm at WHS.
Come to the WHS Open House this Thursday at 5:30! You will have a chance to meet teachers, learn about programs, and see the building. There will also be ice cream! Westbrook High School has so many amazing things to offer – this is your chance to learn about them all!
Class of 2024 graduates and families! The senior banners have been delivered to WHS (...for real this time!). Please come pick up your banner at the high school. They will be available for pickup Tuesday, 9/27, from 9-11am and 3-6:30pm. A huge "Thank you!" to our Project Grad parents for coming to WHS to hand them out. We will decide on additional dates/times based on turnout tomorrow. We want to unite you with your banner, if you want it.

Come out this Friday, 8/23, to the WHS staff parking lot at 7pm to see the WHS Marching Band perform their new program Legacy, dedicated to the life and legacy of Jeff Smith. Jeff was a beloved teacher, coach, and director, who worked with our band for years and died suddenly and tragically last year. This is the annual public unveiling of the marching band’s fall program. It is bound to be a tremendous performance. You won’t want to miss it!
Back to School is right around the corner! We will stagger our start days, bringing in only grades 9 & 10 on Wednesday, August 28, and only grades 11 & 12 on Thursday, August 29. Breakfast begins at 7:30am, and the school day will run from 7:50am to 2:25pm. Orientation Day is packed with activities, as well as laptop distribution, school pictures, and a run through of the schedule. Then we will rest and regroup over a four day Labor Day holiday weekend, before returning at full capacity with everyone in the building on Tuesday, September 3.
As a refresher, Westbrook High School runs on an alternating Blue/White Day Schedule. Beginning September 3 (Blue Day), we have eight class periods split over two days, four on Blue Day, and four on White Day.
There will a Community Conversation about the revised FY25 School Budget and Validation Vote on Thursday, July 11, 5:30-6:30pm at the Westbrook Middle School cafeteria.
PLEASE VOTE on July 16!

Congratulations to the Class of '24 on an amazing Class Night! As a group, they were awarded $450,000 in scholarships! Wow!!! A huge shoutout goes to all the families and teachers for supporting these scholars over the years. Thanks to Mr. Francoeur for being their class advisor. Finally, we all owe a special debt of gratitude to Sue Bailey, who is the driving force behind our awards ceremonies and special events, including graduation.

As of this afternoon, roads have mostly been cleared, the power is back on at Congin, and power is on track to be restored in that part of the city this evening. That means that schools will be open tomorrow! If anything changes, I will notify you in the morning. Otherwise, we can plan on a regular day at all schools. This includes the PreK program, Adult Education, and the LEARNS before and after school program at the Community Center.
Thank you to our Public Works crews and power company workers who have been hard at work all weekend.

The Class of '24 took their official "number" pic last week. That is the annual yearbook picture, in which all graduating seniors gather together and form the number of their class year, often in the gym but this year on the lawn in front of WHS. What a good looking group of soon-to-be graduates!
