In the first round of the playoffs, Girls Soccer took down the TA Trojans on a last minute goal by Ava Bolden, which sealed the final score at 2-1. Wow! Ida Huntley scored first to put us on the board. The Blazes ultimately fell to the #2 seed Falmouth Navigators, but it was a tremendous season!
Football finished the regular season with a record of 7-1, after defeating the Gorham Rams 12-10 in the inaugural River Bowl. That means the trophy stays in the ‘Brook for the next year until it goes up for grabs again in the next River Bowl. Congrats to the Blazes, who finished as the #1 seed and will host a home playoff game at Olmstead Field for the first time in decades! We play the Marshwood Hawks this Friday at 7pm.
Congratulations to the Field Hockey team, which beat the higher seeded Windham Eagles in the first round of the playoffs and advanced to face the #1 overall seed. What a great season for our girls!
Boys Soccer capped a terrific season with a heartbreaking playoff loss against Windham. The game went to a penalty shootout, where the lower seeded Eagles eeked out a victory.
Golf had a great year with several strong performances. It is a young team with a lot to look forward to, and the fact that enrollment numbers were so strong predicts a bright future.
Volleyball had another amazing season this year. Unfortunately, the Blazes fell just outside of playoff eligibility, but that is not indicative of weak performances. In fact, it is quite the opposite. We played a schedule with very tough competition and won a bunch of games. Like so many of our teams, we are moving in the right direction. I wouldn't want to come up against the Blazes next year. Watch out!
