Cougars

Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a wonderful April break. It was so great to see students coming back into our building on Monday with smiling faces, and maybe even a few inches taller!

I can't believe that this Friday will be the start of May. This year continues to fly by, but we have a lot of events coming up. Here are some updates for this week:

  1. It's Wednesday, so that means it is an early release day! Students will be dismissed at 2:20pm.

  2. Yesterday our 4th grade College Knowledge team and Civil Rights team got a tour of USM on a field trip! Our cougars had an amazing time.

  3. We continue our work with cooperation for this month! Students have been working hard in classrooms to earn paper bricks so that we can build a brick wall of cooperation in our school.

  4. Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! We can't wait to celebrate all of our staff and the hard work that they do. Our theme for the week is "Congin Staff are Superheros!" I have attached a flyer with a spirit week that students can participate in to celebrate our staff.

  5. Come get crafty at Congin with our Free Family Art Night on Tuesday, May 12 from 5:30-6:30pm. We will have teacher-led painting, sidewalk chalk graffiti, a community mural and more! We hope to see you there! If this event needs to get cancelled for rain, we will reschedule it to May 19th.

  6. Our PTO will be hosting our annual Plant Sale this year on May 16th from 10am-12pm. If you would like to donate any plants for this event, please reach out to conginplantsale@gmail.com.

  7. Hannaford Helps continues this month until May 30th! Continue collecting those tickets with a QR code and select Congin to receive funds!

  8. This month is NWEA testing time! NWEA testing is our state testing, which the state looks at to see how our school is performing. It's important that students do their best on the test, get a good night's sleep, and come to school prepared. Teachers will be reaching out with specific dates that students will be taking the assessment.

  9. There will be a 5th grade information night for our 4th grade families on June 1st from 5-6 at Westbrook Middle School! I have attached a flyer for you to check out if you are interested.

  10. We will be having a 4th grade promotion celebration on Tuesday, June 16th at 2pm. We invite all 4th grade families to come and celebrate your child moving up to the middle school from Congin!

  11. Our School Committee has approved our calendar for next year. I have attached it to this email for you to reference.

  12. Westbrook's last day of school will be on June 17th and it will be a half day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:20.

  13. It's a great day to be a cougar!

Sincerely,
